JUMP START TO COLLEGE
Global Education Elite is in partnership with University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) Extension to offer high school students a three-week STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) course. Upon completion of the coursework, each student will earn 3 Pre-College Credits.

21ST CENTURY COURSES
STEAM ACROSS THE GLOBE focuses on a broad topic, using multiple threads of STEAM.
Students will be exposed to college-level education taught by UC San Diego Extension qualified educators. This hands-on course allows students to work with actual data and provides and authentic, highly consequential problem to work on.
All courses take place at your institution. Your students will not need to travel outside the county while receiving state-of-the-art education from one of the top universities in the United States.

The Difference Between Pre-College Credits and AP Courseworks
"The benefits of pre-college credits that extend beyond completion of AP coursework.
Although typically not degree transferable, pre-college credit establishes proof of completion of a planned course of study in terms of hours (one quarter unit is roughly ten hours of direct contact with an instructor plus roughly 15-20 hours of work outside of the course) and scope and sequence related to a particular area of study. An award of completion or certificate conferred upon program completers may also augment applications for postsecondary education or the workforce, or prove otherwise valuable.
Pre-college credit also may be useful in securing internships within and outside higher education, as transcripts document experience and acquisition of content-based and metacognitive skills (creativity, collaboration, resilience, etc.). Finally, although credit may not be degree transferable, they may count toward other requirements established by a particular institution (hours toward a particular requirement, etc.) ."
Course Curriculum
STEM is an interdisciplinary approach to education, combining science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEAM adds art, recognizing the important role that aesthetics play in good design.
This STEAM Course is built around practical, real-world problems that involve multiple disciplines, and require collaborative approaches. The course connects knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom with professional disciplines, so that students see how classroom work is useful, and regularly used, by professionals.
Each workshop is a stand-alone unit that engages students from all backgrounds, encouraging them to think and act like scientists, mathematicians or engineers. This practice of thinking like a disciplinarian, along with work more closely aligned with challenges they will face in the workplace, will help them thrive in our high-tech, high-skill global economy.
Each unit has a focus on a theme, using multiple threads of STEAM. The length and depth of each unit is driven by student engagement and level of preparation. In each case, students must combine seemingly diverse disciplines to find a solution. These activities are highly interactive, hands-on, and collaborative; students work with actual data, and must make a consequential decision, policy recommendation, or strategic choice.

A minimum requirement is:
- High school student (11th-12th grade)
- Age (16-18 years old)
- English writing and reading skills
- Has completed high school mathematics and science courses
